St. Luke's United Methodist Church

Mission Focus

For a small church, St. Luke’s is very active in Mission. We support Mission around the world through the sharing of our monetary resources to fund missions, missionaries and ministry around the world through our United Methodist Church.

In addition, we are busy locally, reaching our in love and witness. Our local mission work includes the activities and projects listed below. If you have a new idea for mission, please see Pastor Lisa.

Once a quarter, St. Luke’s brings in a guest speaker for our Sunday School hour and/or our 11 o’clock worship service. These guest speakers represent ministries in the local community and greater Richmond area, in which we would like to become more involved.

These special Sundays are always informative, and often inspire us to new projects and participation, when we sense the Spirit of God calling to us.

Recent and upcoming speakers include representatives from: the Alzheimer’s Society of Greater Richmond; the Principal of Jacobs Road Elementary School; CARITAS; Missionary Dr. Jocelyn Jocson; the Belmont Food Pantry; Jennifer Boyden from Heart Haven; Jill Gaynor from United Methodist Family Services, and more.

John Wesley said, “The world is my parish.” We seek to undertake this calling to ministry, which extends far beyond the walls of our church.
